Hatchi — last updated September 14, 2026 · Français

The short version. Hatchi reads health and motion data from your iPhone and Apple Watch to animate your virtual pet. That data is read on your device, stays on your device, and is never transmitted anywhere.

There is no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code in the app. Hatchi has no way to see your data, because your data never leaves the devices you own.

What Hatchi reads

Health data (Apple Health)

With your permission, Hatchi reads the following from Apple Health. Each one exists because a specific part of the pet depends on it:

Activity summary — Move, Exercise and Stand rings
Drives your pet's energy and daily mood, and the activity rings shown in the app.
Active energy, exercise minutes and stand time
Used for the hour-by-hour activity breakdown on Apple Watch.
Sleep analysis
Produces your sleep score — duration, bedtime regularity and interruptions — and decides whether your pet wakes up rested.
Workouts
Puts your pet in its exercising state and keeps your activity streak going.
Heart rate
Read during workouts only, to detect when a workout is actually underway.
Mindful minutes
Drives the Mindfulness trait.
Time in Daylight
Drives the Daylight trait and the sunlight states of your pet.

Hatchi never writes to Apple Health. Permission is requested for reading only; the app adds nothing to your health record and modifies nothing in it.

Motion & Fitness

While your egg is hatching, Hatchi counts your steps in real time using the device's motion sensor, so you can watch the egg progress as you walk. Your iPhone counts them when you have one; an Apple Watch used on its own counts them itself. This is used for hatching only.

What Hatchi does not collect

Where your data lives

Everything Hatchi knows about your pet — its level, its traits, your streaks, your trophies, the cosmetics you own — is stored locally in the app's private storage on your device.

A small amount of that state is shared between the iPhone app, the Apple Watch app, the iPhone widget and the Watch complication using an Apple App Group, which is a private storage area shared only between parts of Hatchi itself on your own devices. The iPhone and Watch apps also exchange this state directly with each other over Apple's device-to-device connection so the two stay in sync.

There is no Hatchi server. The app contains no networking code of any kind: it cannot upload your data, because it has no ability to make a network request.

Opening a link from Hatchi hands the rest over to Safari or the App Store. Nothing of your data goes with it.

No third parties

Hatchi ships with no third-party SDKs, no analytics frameworks, no advertising networks and no crash-reporting services. Nobody but you receives your health data — not us, and not anyone else.

Like every app on the App Store, Hatchi's developer can see anonymous, aggregated statistics provided by Apple — downloads, and crash reports from people who chose to share them in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. They never contain health data, and Hatchi adds nothing to them.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Hatchi sends them entirely from your device — for example your morning and evening recaps, or a nudge to go for a walk on a quiet afternoon. They are scheduled locally by the app. No push server is involved and no notification content is transmitted off your device.

Subscriptions and payments

Hatchi+ is an auto-renewable subscription sold through the App Store. Your purchase is processed entirely by Apple. Hatchi receives only whether an active subscription exists — never your name, payment method, billing address or any part of your payment details.

Subscriptions are managed in Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions, and can be cancelled there at any time.

Children

Hatchi is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone. Since the app collects nothing and transmits nothing, no personal information about a child can reach us.
